About San Fernando Valley Interfaith Council
The Valley Interfaith Commission (later known as Valley Interfaith Council or VIC) was started in November 1964 by lay persons and clergy from Jewish, Protestant, Catholic and Unitarian congregations n the San Fernando Valley who joined together to take a prophetic stand in favor of open housing. Although the open housing movement lost on the electoral issue in the fall of 1964, people of the organizing committee continued to meet.
VIC is unique organization providing social serves to thousands each year while holding fast to its original interfaith identity through the work of the Interfaith Relations Committee and social justice advocacy work through the Social Concerns Committee.
